Background

Dr. Irina Staatz-Granzer, the founder of Staatz Business Development & Strategy, has almost 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, with most of her career dedicated to corporate and business development as well as general management.

After her graduation as a pharmacist from the Phillips University of Marburg she completed her studies with a PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry from the Eberhard-Karls-University of Tuebingen

Afterwards, she joined Hermal, a leading European dermatology company, which at that time was a 100% subsidiary of Merck KGaA. At Hermal Dr. Staatz-Granzer held various management positions in product development, international marketing and business development.

During the acquisition of Hermal by Boots Healthcare International (BHI), Dr. Staatz-Granzer not only supported significantly the sales process in cooperation with the responsible investment bank but also served as an integration manager. After the successful integration, she stayed as Global Head of Licensing and Product Acquisition, Skin Products for BHI.

In 1998 Dr. Staatz-Granzer assumed the role of Head of Business Development at Knoll Deutschland, where she was responsible for licensing & product acquisition as well as for corporate development, market research and the internet presence.

In 2002 Dr. Staatz-Granzer joined the biopharmaceutical company Scil Biomedicals as Vice President Business Development and in 2003 assumed full responsibility as managing director of the successor company Scil Technology after an extensive restructuring process of the entire Scil Group.

At the beginning of 2006, Dr Staatz-Granzer decided to start her own business and became an independent consultant.

In parallel with her industrial career, Dr Staatz-Granzer has made significant contributions to professional associations. She is a founding member of the German Pharma Licensing Club for which she has been serving as Vice President since its incorporation in 1999. In addition, she is member of the European Pharma Licensing Council Board at which she currently holds the position of President.
